Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) was used in an ancient Germanic ritual, sacred to the goddess Hertha. The grass was hung outside the houses, as a protection against witches and against evil. It has also been used as an aphrodisiac, and its sedative effects are well known.
Valerian is a popular natural sleeping pill, the effect of which is enhanced by mixing with hops and in high doses induces a floating sensation.
DOSAGE OF VALERIANA

Pour a couple of tablespoons into half a liter of water and boil it for 5 minutes in a pot with the lid on.

One pack contains 35 grams of Valerian.

ACTIVE INGREDIENTS OF VALERIAN
The sequisterpene valeranone ketone is responsible for its sedative effects.
The actinidine alkaloid also affects the neurotransmitter GABA in the central nervous system and may be responsible for some psychoactivity.
